Historic Stone Cottage Restoration – County Louth
At the foot of the Cooley Mountains and just moments from Templetown Beach in County Louth, a centuries–old stone cottage has been carefully restored after decades untouched by modernisation.
Severely impacted by Storm Barra, the cottage was left with over four feet of floodwater throughout its interior. The restoration that followed was carefully considered, balancing respect for the building’s history with the requirements of modern comfort.
Respecting Heritage
Working alongside one of Arroll’s retail partners, the homeowners searched for a heating solution that would feel authentic to the building’s character.
Cast iron radiators were a natural choice, offering both visual harmony and dependable warmth for thick stone walls and a coastal climate.
A Considered Choice
A visit to the Arroll factory allowed the couple to explore styles and finishes first–hand, ensuring every decision felt informed and personal.
The Princess range, finished in Pewter, was ultimately selected for its elegant detailing and timeless presence.
The Result
Subtle yet distinctive, the radiators sit effortlessly within the restored interiors, enhancing the space without overshadowing its story.
The result is a home renewed with sensitivity and purpose, where traditional craftsmanship and modern comfort exist in quiet, considered balance.
